Our History

New Covenant Presbyterian Church has been in existence since 2010 and was formed from the merger of two former Presbyterian churches - Forest Park Presbyterian Church and Northminster Presbyterian Church. Before merging to become New Covenant, Forest Park had been serving the Hutchinson, Kansas community since its founding in 1904 as the First United Presbyterian Church of Hutchinson. Northminster had been serving Hutchinson since its founding in 1955 as a church plant of First Presbyterian Church of Hutchinson. So, the impact of New Covenant as a light for Christ in the Hutchinson community has been burning bright for 120 years!

In 2021, due to growing theological differences with our denomination, New Covenant left their former denomination, the Presbyterian Church of the USA, known as the PCUSA, and became a part of the fastest growing of the Presbyterian denominations, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, or EPC. The EPC consists of over 600 churches nationwide, with a membership in excess of 145,000 members.

Although New Covenant is Presbyterian in name, you don’t need to be a Presbyterian to attend. If you are looking for an uplifting worship experience with relevant, Bible centered preaching, traditional hymns and a warm and welcoming congregation waiting to greet you in a casual and friendly atmosphere, New Covenant may just be the church you’ve been looking for! We would love to have you come by to visit and worship with us!
